I had forgotten what it was like to coach in the rain after the stunning summer we have had. I certainly found out last night, turning up with the wrong kit. While the riders had a great time in a very active session in the slippy conditions, I shivered the night away. It was a relief to get home and dry out.
We have now progressed to less of a focus on skills (that was the pre-season sessions) and the intensity has picked up aiming to get the riders “sharpened” up for racing. Our local leagues, the Wessex and Central both begin at the weekend.
Next week, I will make sure I am fully prepared for any conditions – it’s going to be a long winter…..
