In the late summer, it always seems strange to be organising Cyclo-Cross coaching sessions and to be giving riders I help skills sessions linked to off-road riding. It has felt particularly strange this year in the hot and dry conditions we have been experiencing in the UK but of course the Cyclo-Cross season is now only a month away.
Group sessions have started already in Newbury and the demand has been amazing – the first one attracted over 40 local (and not so local) riders, all of whom are keen to get themselves in the best possible form for mid-September.
The Cyclo-Cross sessions I run always include a skills component, so far we have looked at starts and cornering, but also have lots of intensive efforts too – all linked to the required physical components of this exciting area of the sport more often associated with mud!.
